(27,821 posts)... of the Bernie fiasco, it will be a cold day in hell before the Party ever agrees to allow a non-Dem to run on our ticket again. Lesson learned - if nothing else.
It's hard to remember that just a year ago, Bernie was lauded as the sincere, self-effacing gentleman who would never run a negative campaign, and only ran because he wants what is best for his fellow citizens.
And here we are, twelve months later, and Bernie has now proven himself to be what he's always been - an ego-driven shit-disturber whose only interest is himself, and his desperate attempt to cling to his fifteen minutes of fame.
We have no way of ever knowing, but I wonder how many people who voted for that "sweet old man, pure of heart and spirit" in the early primary states would vote for him now, now that the mask has dropped.
At this point, I'd be happy to see security drag Bernie off the Convention floor, kicking and screaming, if he even opens his mouth. (OK - that's my personal little fantasy!)
Despicable man, disgusting behaviour - Bernie is a little pissant devoid of any principles whatsoever.

(51,403 posts)Sanders is delusional to think he will be able to shut down the Convention. Most of the delegates wouldn't have a clue of what they can do or not do as many of them are newbies. And Sanders' delegates or part of his team that tries anything are likely to find themselves outflanked through the rules.
I'm not a fan of Debbie Wasserman Schultz but I don't consider having her removed something that needs to be done at this time. Especially now! It can wait until after the election because her term will be up and she won't be standing for another term. With that, DWS should lay the law down with Sanders. She needs to be backed up by the Senators who can use a lot of clout to shut him down.

(6,444 posts)http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/onpolitics/2016/04/12/sanders-adviser-barney-frank-hit-sanders-capacity-age/82947832/
Tad Devine, Sanders senior adviser, said Frank is among surrogates for Hillary Clinton who used Sanders remarks to a NY Daily News editorial board on April 1 to promote a story line that questions Sanders capacity to be president.
Devine pointed to Franks April 6 statements on MSNBC that Sanders confused several things in his responses to questions about his core issue of breaking up big banks. Frank also said Sanders responses to the editorial board were not coherent.
These are remarks that do not speak merely to the substance of policy proposals but speak to his capacity and obviously his age, Devine said Monday of Sanders. I think theyre trying to suggest that he does not have the capacity to be president of the United States. That is part of their attack on his qualifications."
Devines remarks follow suggestions that Sanders was sexist in saying Clinton was unqualified to be president, a charge Sanders made and later walked back after Clinton wouldnt answer whether Sanders was qualified.
Devine stood by his criticism after being reminded that Frank is two years older than Sanders. Frank is 76 and Sanders is 74.
He said Franks comments are the manifestation of Clintons strategy after his April 5 win in Wisconsin to disqualify Sanders. And he has concerns about Frank serving as co-chairman of the conventions rules committee in July. Frank was appointed to the position by Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
At the appropriate point in time, we will raise objection to it, he said, adding that he is expressing his own concerns. The people who are going to chair these committees for the convention need to be people who are not engaged in that level of partisanship.
Responding on Tuesday, Frank said it would be stupid and baffling to think that age played a role in his criticism of Sanders.
How many 76-year-olds do you know who would like to imply that a 74-year-old is too old to do something? he asked. Im two years older than Senator Sanders! That would lead me to question Mr. Devines qualifications for having a rational debate.
Frank said he expects Clinton to secure a clear majority of delegates, but he will step aside from his rules committee co-chairmanship if the nomination is uncertain in June and a rules interpretation could be the deciding factor.
I understand the perception problem, he said. I dont insist that everyone in the world have the same confidence in my judgment that I do.
Frank, co-author of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law, has long criticized Sanders. In July, he wrote a column for Politico, Why Progressives shouldnt support Bernie, arguing that a long primary would undermine Clintons general election chances.
Frank said he has never suggested that Sanders is unqualified to be president, but he disagrees with his approach to politics.
I think he has been too rigid and his record in 26 years in Congress is not one that leads to getting things done, he said. The people most committed to change in Congress who have served with both him and Hillary Clinton are overwhelmingly for Hillary

"Both Governor Malloy and Representative Frank were elected by the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee on January 22, 2016, pursuant to the Call for the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Article VII(F)(I)(the "Call" ," the chairs wrote in response. Frank brushed off the Sanders camp's charges.
"It is inconceivable to me that anything could come before that committee that will affect who the nominee is," Frank said. "I think what you have here is this: Sanders is losing to Hillary Clinton because she is getting many more votes and many more pledged delegates. Some of the Sanders supporters are trying to lay the claim that he's being unfairly deprived of this."
Asked what he thought Sanders' endgame goal was, Frank said it might be to suggest he was robbed of the nomination.
"I hope it is not to lay the basis for an inaccurate claim that he was unfairly denied the nomination and I do see some elements of this," Frank said. "We really had two nomination contests this year. Bernie Sanders is the nominee of the caucuses; Hillary Clinton is the nominee of the primaries, which are more Democratic."
