Sanders: I'm Heading to the Convention Even If Clinton Sweeps CA, NJ PrimariesMARYALICE PARKS May 30, 2016, 10:32 PM ET
Bernie Sanders reaffirmed Sunday that he is not planning to accept defeat in the primary race until the Democratic Partys convention in July, regardless of the outcome of the June 7 primaries, which include delegate-rich California and New Jersey.
Talking to reporters before an event in East Oakland, California, Sanders preemptively rejected any declarations about Hillary Clinton as the presumptive nominee until superdelegates vote in Philadelphia at the party's convention later this summer, even if she passes the threshold for delegates needed, as she likely will, next week.

It's already pretty evident with the endorsements we've seen:
41 of 44 Democratic Senators have endorsed Clinton (1 for Sanders)
173 of 188 Democratic Representatives have endorsed Clinton (9 for Sanders)
That's 93% of all Democrats in Congress supporting Clinton, with only 4% supporting Sanders.
And 17 of 18 Democratic Governors have endorsed Clinton, too.

(15,374 posts)Bernie says. He will NOT be the nominee in a million years. All he will do is to continue making a fool of himself. If that is what he wants, please.let him proceed.
But it will be VERY hard for him to go back to the Senate and have any influence whatsoever if he continues like this.
He is ALL about Bernie and that becomes clearer every day

(28,270 posts)But why would a rational person do this?
Is he setting up a third party run after the convention?

No one but Trump is getting any benefits from what Sanders is doing now.

(30,058 posts)On the convention floor if his point is he does not like the super delegates. I heard him saying what he expects the DNC nominee to stand on the issues, Hillary has had those covered for a long time so he can rest and back the DNC nominee.

The question is.. why does BS think it's okay to burn his bridges.. surely he knows what he's done?

(2,542 posts)Maybe the media was having fun and making bank on ratings when they could extend the artificial horse race, but don't expect anyone outside of brainless progressive media like Salon or HuffPo to bother trying to keep the charade going. You saw it this week with Chuck Todd asking Bernie point-blank: "Isn't your stance on super-delegates hypocritical?"
Yeah, Bernie can expect to field questions like those for a month, which I suspect will drive him off of cable news in a rage-quit of red-faced frustration.

Go figure huh?

(130 posts)Should not allow itself to be hijacked by this egomaniac nut-job. We don't need his irrationality and white privilege anger near the party. No wonder he appeals to some of the same bigots that support trump, because his arguments is just as xenophobic and insensitive as the wig wearing coward. He should be primaried and kicked out of congress or at the very least shunned by democrats in the senate.

(31,543 posts)They are just following Bernie's lead. At the beginning of this primary race, I had a great deal of respect for Bernie and would have gladly supported him if he was the nominee. As it is now, if by some miracle he were to be nominated, I would still vote for him in the GE, but I have lost a lot of respect for him. For the good of the party, he should step down now and let Hillary focus her attention on Donald Trump.
Even if he doesn't feel like he can actively endorse her at this point (which would be kind of shitty, IMO) he knows he isn't going to get enough delegates and super delegates to take the nomination. Why he continues to excite his supporters against Hillary is beyond my comprehension.
