The one question I keep having about Mrs Clinton is this:
Is she too conditioned to always be cautious about political positions? Is she so concerned about electability that she won't "act more like Bernie" unless it it electorally safe to do so? (The way she did with same sex marriage?)
Indeed, depicting her like the enemy is counterproductive. She is not an enemy of the American people - nor either of the two other declared Democratic candidates for the presidency.
The question is: who is the candidate the American people need most? Mr. Sanders' behaviour is an admirable indication of who that might be. Mrs. Clinton may very well convince us we need her, by convincing herself that the supposedly left-wing positions are actually safe to express. I for one hope to see her do so.
(Just imagine all three democratic hopefuls telling the GOP: "There is no difference of opinion between us three: on civil rights, voting rights, worker rights, minimum wage, ... etcetera." That would put those two dozen self-serving one-percenters on the defensive for the rest of the campaign! It would make it an election between a personality cult - GOP - and proposed policies represented by the best woman or man.)
