Cuba, Bolivia Decry Destabilization Against Ecuador Government

Cuba, Bolivia Decry Destabilization Against Ecuador Government
Published 16 June 2015

Rafael Correa temporarily suspended parliamentary debate on two tax laws, saying he would call a national debate on wealth distribution in the country.

Bolivian President Evo Morales announced his solidarity with Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa and denounced what he called destabilization attempts from “oligarchic groups.”

“My solidarity, my respect and my support to President Correa,” Morales said in a speech from the Palacio Quemado in La Paz.

Morales called on the right-wing movements of the Latin American continents to respect democratically-elected government. The Bolivian leader also said there was no justification for continued protests from opposition groups now that Correa delayed the introduction of two tax proposals, which sparked violent demonstrations.
