Wisconsin man beaten, tortured on vacation in Costa Rica, family says

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. —
A Wisconsin man is alive but suffering serious injuries after he was beaten, stabbed and tortured while on vacation.
It seemed that Ryan Messerschmidt was having a dream vacation in Costa Rica until his family said someone took him and tortured him.
The father of a 7-month-old from River Falls was traveling by himself.
His cousins, Liebe and Trica Luhring, said someone targeted him at the airport and at a resort.
