In a gesture to the Jair Bolsonaro government, the United States will make Brazil's entry into the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) a priority.

The interlocutors told Folha that the Americans delivered a letter to the organization, making it official that they want Brazil to be the next country to begin the process of joining the organization.

In practice, the American action means that Washington defends that Brazil occupies the vacancy that initially belonged to Argentina in the queue of candidates to a place in the so-called rich countries club.

. . .

According to people who follow the theme, the US wants Brazil to "break the line" and occupy Argentina's place.

Until the end of last year, Argentina was governed by the liberal Mauricio Macri, which strengthened the country's claim for OECD membership.
