Omaha Fire Union president to be charged with assault, disorderly conduct, city attorney says

By Emily Nohr / World-Herald staff writer Feb 1, 2019 Updated 20 min ago

Steve LeClair, president of the Omaha Firefighters Union, will be charged with assault and disorderly conduct over allegations he punched a woman in a bar.

City Prosecutor Matt Kuhse told The World-Herald that after a "thorough review" of the details of the investigation, he has directed the Omaha Police Department to cite LeClair with assault and battery and disorderly conduct.

"In reviewing the evidence and circumstances of this incident, these are the appropriate charges to pursue," Kuhse said.

LeClair, who also is a city firefighter, has been on paid administrative leave from the city since December.
