If you are using the Federal payment system EFTPS - be ready to be annoyed

Effective October 19, 2023, businesses and individual taxpayers who make payments electronically via the Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) must utilize Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). The primary goal is to further enhance the website’s security and safeguard against unauthorized access threats.

Also using either Login.gov or ID.me

Honestly at first I thought that the site was hacked so I went in search of changes and found this

https://www.yeoandyeo.com/resource/multi-factor-authentication-required-for-eftps-effective-october-19-2023

And, of course, had to go through changing the password, twice.

I was surprised, though, that the system had my cell phone number for a second authentication. And was glad to have it next to the computer.

I am too old for this crap.

But once I got one of those security key things with the fingerprint go button (see how techie I am NOT, LOL) things go along just fine now. I reckon I can use the key plug in for other sites to enhance security. Now, if I just manage not to lose the little thing.
