EDIT
Leave the asphalt egg-fry to the cooler climes an air temperature of 115 degrees registers on a meat thermometer. Thats the internal temperature at which you should take a prime rib off the heat if you like it rare, according to www.marthastewart.com. In addition to the biggest Bay Area blister-spot in Livermore, temperatures in Morgan Hill and Gilroy are expected to reach 110, while San Jose, Concord, Mountain View and Santa Rosa are all expected to break 100.
The last time the Bay Area experienced a scorcher was mid-June, when a heat wave played a role in the deaths of two elderly people in San Jose, one a homeless person sheltering in a car. Santa Clara County officials said there have been a total of four heat-related deaths this year. Garcia said in coming days the peaks will surpass that early summer blast. There will be much more widespread heat, he said. Its flat-out going to be hotter.
Thats because theres a big ridge of high pressure blocking any incoming respite from the sea. The offshore jet-stream is being forced up and over the blocking ridge, Garcia said.
We get into this pressure-cooker thing, he said. It will sit in place and have all this air pushing down on us, heating up, and were going to have this well into next week.

(1,588 posts)Look on youtube for the videos.
I made one and it works.
You just need a ice chest, small fan, some pvc plumbing type connectors. You want kind that curve.
Just look at the youtube video.
You add ice and your room will get cooler.
Block ice works best. Any ice will work.
It is easy to make .
Just cut holes in the lid in the ice chest for the fan and pvc connectors.
Cold air will come out.
I made one for a friend when her ac went out.
Just look on youtube for making homemade ac's.
The bigger the ice chest the better.

(2,157 posts)"Bay Area" is too vague sometimes. It's very unusual and concerning for the coast. I've been through the valley in that kind of heat before.
