As I said, I looked periodically. You were my nightside fellow mod - I spotted 'em, you nuked 'em - we were quite the demolition cleanup team!

And where should I start?? The effects of global climate change are understandably the major topic of this forum - and, of course, the fact that Trump is either ignoring the issue - or doing his very best to make things much worse.

...neither The the Mango Menage, nor our continued slide into oblivion, are things I managed to avoid.

Things aren't necessarily all that upbeat on DU these days. And you picked a tough day to return, Trump news has dominated the airwaves in particular today with his lengthy and cringeworthy State of the Union speech - following the longest government shutdown in our history, for which he was proud to take responsibility. So your return is about the only good news here today - so thank you for that! Your timing is perfect!

...but at least Congress is back on the path of sanity and Mueller is blood-hounding his way through the paper trail. Plus there's some interesting names turning up for for 2020 (Apart from Schultz, he can go and do one.)

I imagine it was much grimmer 2 years ago. Fortunately for me, I spent '16 & '17 hiding in my blanket fort with a crate of scotch.

If we live long enough to see Trump behind bars while Mar-a-Lago slips quietly under the waves, I'll take it as a small victory.

The fallout from this hijacked election was brutal here, as you can imagine. I foolishly had dental surgery on election day 2016, nodded off watching the returns on TV and woke up at about 3am to see Trump and his entire disreputable extended family on the TV - I'm still hoping it was just a bad dream and I'll eventually wake up! This entire episode is too bizarre and unbelievable for words!

Kind of glad I missed that.

I'm not sure we've fully recovered from that. And the fact that Trump is actively dissing our long time allies and selling us out to our long time adversaries - and this is still going on! - is causing a lot of anger and stress here each and every day...

...he can't even find us on a map.

I hate it when that happens.

With me it's either that or the locked psych ward, although it's often difficult for me to discern which is which. I usually look at my feet. Funny hospital socks with non-slip treads is psych ward. My own shoes or boots with laces, or bare feet, that's alien abduction.

If you go for a walk and they give you pills and lead you back to bed, psych ward. If you go for a walk and talk to trees, space aliens.

Internet access is frequently problematic in either case.
