Heavy-duty trucks lead China’s FCEVs market in 1H2023

China Hydrogen Bulletin on Substack | Jian Wu | July 20, 2023

Heavy duty trucks occupied the biggest market share among all the FCEVs applications in China in 1H2023, according to latest released industry survey.

In 1H2023, 2,262 FCEVs started operation in 44 cities in China, among them 39% could be classified into heavy-duty truck category, including trailers, waste management vehicles and dumpers.

China is literally taking over an industry - while Americans watch (*or ignore!). Most Americans don't know wtf a fuel cell is yet. Fascinating to see.

Just like they did with solar - 10-15 years ago.

...with you about the U.S.'s failure to get started on this, I don't understand why the Biden administration is taking such a slow approach after winning the 2020 election on his "anti-fossil fuel" campaign platform, but I guess there's work going on that they want to keep out of the public's view (?).

On another note, Hydrogen is definitely taking the lead for heavy equipment but the more I read about the limited sources for Lithium, the more I think we should start off on the right foot and just build the entire transport industry (personal cars included) on hydrogen, rather than starting with batteries and having to switch again to hydrogen when the lithium becomes a problem (a problem of mining, mine ownership, international mine locations, supply shortages, etc, etc,)
