Hawaii has a mandate to generate all its electricity from renewable energy by 2045

The simplest solution is to pass a law saying everything is renewable and we have already reached our goal. This is not as crazy as it sounds. Every state with a 100% renewable energy goal has a different definition of renewable energy. And many of the states, including Hawai`i, current assert that some fossil fuels can count as renewable energy.

If O`ahu, with its large population, commercial establishments, tourism, and military facilities, can reach 100% renewable energy, then every Hawai`i island can do so.

About ten solutions have been proposed for O`ahu. The two leading candidates are centralized and distributed solar, and solar combined with offshore wind. Wind is an option for those who want to preserve open space and/or promote diversified agriculture. Floating offshore wind platforms would be located 12 miles off the coast. Due to resource availability, cultural concerns, military concerns, and shipping lanes, the most likely spot is off Kailua. The undersea transmission lines could interconnect to two windward substations.

God bless Henry Curtis

From the article:

Well, actually, creating new meaningless definitions of english language words that reflect the opposite of their well-established and widely recognized definitions, really is pretty "crazy" in a Kellyann Conway "alternatives facts" kinda way.

That’s not his solution, he is exposing that bullshit

As he has done for decades

At one point quite a few years back, the definition of renewable in the state included coal!

It was written by a lobbyist for Hawaiian Electric

Henry exposed that as well as outing Hawaiian Electric, for installing “aides” (lovbyists) in our state legislators’ offices that were on leave from their jobs at Hawaiian Electric, on full salary, provided “free” to our legislators. The national renewable folks that I talk to couldn’t believe that that was legal, but it was here. You would go talk to your legislator with this aide beside him that you thought worked for us, have your meeting, say your piece and leave at which point the Heco lobbyist would presumably tell the legislator their answer. The deeply shitty part is I was not there to tell Hawaiian electric. I was there to tell my legislator, so my privacy was invaded daily, mine and many others. And this went on every day in every legislative office for years!

It is only not done now because of Henry Curtis.

Think. Again.

..I can't access the original article.

My apologies if I've taken that excerpt out of context.
