My gas bill was only $57 for January. Usually it is about twice that amount this time of year.
Nope not climate change here...

(111,470 posts)It blew a half full and very heavy wheelie bin about 10 yards last night. It's also pretty cold out there today here in NM.

(2,064 posts)I like cold weather and this winter has absolutely SUCKED!!
I am getting very concerned about what it will be like this summer. Last summer was the hottest and driest just about ever and I'm scared this one will be worse if we don't get some colder weather this winter

(25,183 posts)when we're feeling winter up here in the Northeast. Mind you, it wasn't nearly as bad as last year, but it would be quite nice to be someplace warmer right now!

don't know if it really means that much, but they're almost a month early. My crocuses started about February 2nd.
A couple of annuals (not supposed to survive our winter) are turning green right now.

(2,064 posts)That is so not right. Now if we have any kind of cold weather it will really do some damage.

(6,183 posts)You are absolutely right. People up north are now able to grow plants that formerly only grew "down south" and this winter (Dallas) has been practically non-existent.
Climate change will show its ugly side again this spring, tornadoes in Missouri and Oklahoma already, and this morning I heard NBC news warning us here in North Texas to be prepared for some tornadoes as well.

(62,540 posts)our last "freeze" is supposed to be march 11th.

(6,183 posts)But two weeks ago the news reported that we've probably already had our last freeze.
Texas is going to get hit hard by global climate change: 120 degree temps in summer. But there may be a silver lining in that grey cloud if it makes Texans insulate their homes, switch to LED lighting, use earth sheltered homes or geothermal heating and cooling coupled with R-50 insulating.
Had I not become disabled I would be driving a Nissan Leaf right now. Or, more accurately my wife would be driving it and I'd get the old clunker. You know how that works. But since I have succumbed I had to cancel my Leaf order. That was a sad day for me...

I went outside for a "smoke" break (i don't smoke but will take the breaks with my co-workers) and it was so hot that I gave up and came back in the building
