‘Obama coffee’ is black and weak — racist tweet from wife of Israel’s vice premier

http://mondoweiss.net/2015/06/racist-israels-premier

Mozes is a journalist and radio host. She’s married to Silvan Shalom, Israel’s vice prime minister and minister of the interior. The Independent says Mozes has since removed the tweet and apologized.

---

Is there an emergency brake on this car? And who does Mozes hang out with that she hears this kind of thing?

Both statements are bizarre examples of Israeli leaders’ difficulty understanding an increasingly diverse world that is at odds with Zionism. So we see a growing siege mentality, an inability to connect, and extreme anger even at the President of Israel’s best ally. It’s hard to imagine this coming out of any politician’s mouth in the U.S., at that level. And it’s more evidence of Israel’s racist rightward reality, which is regularly reported on our site and regularly papered over in the New York Times. Max Blumenthal and Joseph Dana documented this 6 years ago and people said they were lying. And it’s likely just to get worse from here.

The mindset of RW Israel.

She has an FB page -- or did anyway, over the weekend. Also searched her husband's name and found an email. I object to the lack of respect for our president (at home and abroad!).

7. After wife’s Obama joke, minister lauds US president

Interior Minister Silvan Shalom on Monday praised US President Barack Obama’s security support for Israel, a day after his wife’s tweet about the US leader’s skin color drew accusations of racism.

Speaking at an event in London, the minister, who is also tasked with managing a strategic dialogue with the US, said firmly: “I can tell you very, very clear and sharp, that President Obama is standing with Israel in the most intimate and important issues for the safety and security of people of the State of Israel.”

As for his wife, she should resign her position in government and become a right wing talk show host like Sean Hannity who makes more offensive jokes than that about Obama on a regular basis.

Oh wait, she doesn't have a position in government and is a right wing talk show host.

Racism in Israel's government isn't the story (dog bites man), it's the lack of awareness that racism offends most Americans, especially when directed at their president.

Bibi's former Ambassador to the United States is a well-credentialed Orly Taitz. Now Ron Dermer seems like the reasonable choice.

Meanwhile, Hannity/Limbaugh/Savage and all their local surrogates continue to consistently insult Obama with both implicit and explicit racist attacks without apology.

And they are all popular with large segments of Americans.

Not to mention the criticism directed at Obama by several Republican presidential candidates with racist undertones (why won't he show his birth certificate, etc) none of whom have felt the need to apologize for their comments which are easily more offensive than this tweet.

on Obama, non-Orthodox/American/intermarried/liberal Jews?

Bibi's side lost the culture wars in the US. And, there is an increasingly strong correlation between supporting Israel and being a rightwing fuckstick in this country.
