Hamas official says Palestinian terror group is confident of a victory over Israel in "legal conflict."
Hamas announced on Friday that the Palestinian Islamist group is willing to cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC) in order to advance the Palestinian cause, indicating that it would hand over officials to the international tribunal.
Hamas official Khalil al-Haya in a state said "the referral to the ICC is not inconsistent with the organization's [Hamas'] continued resistance [against Israel] in all its forms, as it carries the goal of garnering all rights, including that of armed resistance."
He added that the terror group which controls Gaza was confident of a victory over Israel in "legal conflict."

(6,171 posts)either as an organisation (like the SS) or as individuals. Banging away with unguided rockets that kill over time tens of people, is probably not in the magnitude of breaking the laws of war that warrant a trial in the ICC. Unfortunately, I don't think Palestine as a state will have the guts to go after those who fought for the liberation of Palestine either.
Even if there was a call for justice, Hamas believes it's alright to promise to step up to the plate, as long as it doesn't mean actually stepping up to the plate.

So they're in equal company (can't really call it good company, after all)

(6,171 posts)One man's terrorist is another man's Prime Minister, obviously. I think it stinks when Israel is commemorating terrorists. Israel has no moral foot to stand on when they complain about the Palestinians commemorating their terrorists.
However, the IDF and the Palestinians who have taken up weapons have both been operating in a legal vacuum until now. If war crimes committed can be prosecutable, then it will force all parties to behave; no more shooting rockets into and no more dropping blockbusters onto civilian areas.
