https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/news/middle-east/17981-israel-refuses-to-probe-bombing-of-civilians-in-gazaEfroni said: "You will never hear me say, 'The IDF is the most moral army in the world'."
Nearly 2,200 Palestinians were killed during the air, naval and ground strikes on Gaza, the overwhelming majority of whom were civilians. A quarter of the victims were children.
In an interview with Haaretz newspaper, published yesterday, Efroni said: "We will not put soldiers on trial only in order to satisfy the media, which is disturbed by the large number of civilians killed in the war. I am not investigating in order to satisfy anyone. I will not file indictments in order to arrange the statistics of B'Tselem," which criticised the small number of indictments in the past.
Probes into looting but not mass murder... ...how Israeli.

(58,724 posts)The source just reprinted quotes from an interview Efroni did with Ha'aretz and twisted it around to mean whatever it wanted (they cut out the first half of his remarks to make it seem like he is saying the opposite of what he actually said). Then they put on a made up headline that is demonstrably not true.

(12,869 posts)Targets for WMD are determined by staff. Whether it applies in this case or not, I don't know.

(58,724 posts)And it's not actually a "source" it's just a website that is taking a different source, Ha'aretz, and manipulating that source's content to try to make something up that isn't true.
They took a few lines from a Ha'aretz interview and removed the three previous sentences so as to render it to appear to be saying the opposite of what it actually says.
You can read the full Ha'aretz interview yourself if you want. It's already been posted here.
Not only does he say in the interview that there should be such probes, but he has actually already initiated such probes as demonstrated by the other articles I have included for you in my responses.

(58,724 posts)The Israeli military said Thursday night it had opened six new criminal investigations into soldiers actions during 2014s Operation Protective Edge in the Gaza Strip, including the bombing of a United Nations school that, according to Palestinians, killed 21 civilians and injured dozens.
Chief Military Advocate General Maj. Gen. Danny Efroni announced the probe into the July 30 incident, in which the Israel Defense Forces fired several tank shells at a UN school in the Jabaliya refugee camp, which was housing hundreds of Palestinian refugees.
The Israeli strike elicited widespread international condemnation, including that of UN and US officials. It was one of three incidents between July 24-August 3 in which Israel was accused of striking UN schools serving as shelters, killing almost 50 people and wounding hundreds.
The military defended the action at the time, saying soldiers had targeted Gaza terrorists who had launched mortar shells from the location.
But Efroni said Thursday that findings had given him reasonable grounds to suspect that the strike was carried out against regulations to which IDF troops are obligated.
Efroni also ordered three probes into accusations that troops beat Palestinian detainees, as well as two probes into alleged looting cases.
Efroni had previously opened 13 criminal investigations into various incidents throughout the fighting, including another strike on an UNRWA school in which 14 people were killed, and an airstrike that killed four children on a Gaza beach.
A fact-finding commission set up by Efroni, and headed by Maj. Gen. Noam Tibon of the General Staff, has looked into approximately 120 incidents throughout the campaign. While some cases have been closed, most are still under various stages of review.

(58,724 posts)JERUSALEM The Israeli army has announced eight new criminal investigations into operations during last summers war in the Gaza Strip, including one of its deadliest airstrikes that killed more than two dozen Palestinians, including 19 children, in a family home.
The announcement, which came late Saturday, included unusually detailed descriptions of case reviews by the military, reflecting an effort by Israel to parry a United Nations inquiry and allegations by human rights groups that its forces committed war crimes during the conflict.

(15,805 posts)It is not at all complimentary of Israel's tactics, nor the subsequent smoke and mirror attempts to head off the UN and human rights demands for an independent investigation and consequences.
Times and attitudes are changing and the stale propaganda that Israel can do no wrong in the eyes of America s is wearing desperately thin.

(15,805 posts)while looking at the huge numbers of posts that itemize the growing skepticism, and even the outright hilarity, that immediately follows these pro-Israel pieces, that rosy perception is entirely yours. No amount of these glittering propaganda pieces offer a valid argument that can withstand the harsh scrutiny of Israeli tactics, and no excuses will stem the chorus of global condemnation and public criticism against Israel's policies.
