Dharun Ravi To Appeal Conviction

Dharun Ravi To Appeal Conviction

Dharun Ravi's legal team has filed a notice of their intent to appeal his conviction.

The notice lists the proposed issues to be raised on appeal, including that the bias intimidation statute is unconstitutional as applied to Ravi and that several decisions by Superior Court Judge Glenn Berman, who presided over the trial earlier this year, "prejudiced the defendant’s ability to get a fair trial." The notice begins the process of the appeal which could take upwards of two years before a three-judge panel obtains the necessary briefs detailing the arguments by both sides.

Ravi is presently serving a 30-day sentence in a New Jersey jail.

Fine. Increase it to three years. That's not enough time to ruin his life, I hope, but should give him, and those like him, a little time to think of how they treated other PEOPLE like garbage and the butt of their jokes. And he should be reminded of the life he took at least once a month for the rest of his life.

I thought the sentence for the little nazi that shot Lawrence King in the head was a little severe--wasn't it like 30 years? A 14 year old kid is yet to gain enough self-realization to understand the finality of his actions, the reality of death, and he was raised to be a hateful asshole and made his parents proud. I do think his parents should stand for charges because they raised him to be just like them, and he (possibly) went a little further in killing someone.

I didn't grasp the reality of mortality till about age 25; most I've talked to or read about didn't, either, till about then.

Anyway, the fact is that plenty of children are being taught to hate "the other," whether of another pigmentation, religion, etc--but they can agree with many other religions in their learned hatred of gay people.

And that's the only place where GWB and his fellow elephant turds were "uniters, not dividers."
