Watch: San Francisco Vigil for Teen Lesbian Couple Shot in Texas Park

“I’m here, because I want to honor Mollie’s life, I want to send love to her girlfriend Christine, I want their friends and families in Southern Texas to know that we’re paying attention, and I also know that sometimes justice doesn’t happen unless we speak out,” Jones said at the vigil.

We held a vigil in Corpus Christi this evening; we're just across the bay from Portland. There will be a vigil at the park in Portland tomorrow. The LGBT community here has always tried to avoid attracting attention, which has resulted in small groups that really haven't communicated much with each other. Right before tonight's vigil, representatives from the MCC, St. Luke's UCC (another open and affirming church,) Get Equal, Equality Texas, PFLAG, the local Democratic party, and other allies met to discuss ways to network and increase support for our area's LGBT community.

Police are now saying that they have an eyewitness decription of the attacker; I don't know if Kristene gave this description or if it was from someone else in the area at the time. It didn't help that the body of another teen-aged girl was found in a park in Aransas Pass today, which is just 15 miles from Portland. Even though the police are saying the two murders are not related, everyone is terrified.
