With an ominous cinematic soundtrack and talking points reminiscent of the National Organization for Marriages thoroughly parodied Gathering Storm ad from a few years ago, the Family Research Council has launched a video initiative to stop fake marriage following a string of legislative and legal marriage equality victories throughout the country.
A small, elite, but influential group of Democrats and Republicans has launched a new campaign to have Washington impose same-sex marriage in every state in the country, a narrator warns, referring in part to the Commitment Campaign launched last year by D.C.-based think tank Third Way. This well-funded elite intends to make 2012 the year same-sex marriage is imposed from the top down.

(100,150 posts)Anyone who's filed for divorce or has cheated on their spouse should get absolutely no say in the marriage debate. It's funny that the people who are the ones calling for that bullshit marriage amendment are the ones most likely to do those things.

(2,657 posts)forced into a "Traditional marriage". The girl's mother only married the father so she could continue with her affair with a married man.
The father was miserable the girl was miserable and it only help to hid the Affair.
When the mother passed away the girl's father was able to be himself and he was so much happier. He even became a better father to the girl --who turns out wasn't his biological daughter that the mother promised she was.

(6,670 posts)Same-sex marriage IMPOSED? Wow. Well hell, if everyone gets to be married without having to court or compete, maybe it's worth settling for the wrong gender of partner.
"same-sex marriage is imposed from the top down."
I can't get myself to believe they weren't thinking of the other meaning of "top"
small, elite?

(67,112 posts)some real problems with marriage ... and I wonder how many of those lash out against gay marriage.
To me, it's always a question of WTF is the big deal if a couple of same sex people want to get married. Does that mean that for every married gay couple a straight couple has to get divorced? Are they going to catch "the gay." Damn this country is so F'en weird, really really weird.

(2,567 posts)Say, for example, if someone were nominally Christian--let's call her Maggie--decided to marry someone who is a (sarcasm) heathen Hindu (/sarcasm)--let's call him Raman--should we declare that a "Fake Marriage"? And could two such people be married in a Catholic church by a Catholic priest? I'm just curious because my sister-in-law's parish priest would not marry my brother and her until my brother converted from Lutheran to Catholic. So if they couldn't be married in a church, how can they be "Real Married"?
