Fibroid tumors/masses

anyone living with fibroids?
I've had a benign fibroid "mass" in my breast for 5 years. It was biopsied, but never removed. Always gives me anxiety at mammogram time. Lately it is painful after working out (specifically on arm/chest day). Just wondering under what circumstances would a doctor recommend removing it? I would prefer it was gone, just wondering if anyone here has experience with this?

IMO you don't want to submit to surgery unless there is no other recourse. How much soda do you in2herbs Jan 2019 #1

drink? Try deleting all caffeine from the diet for at least 30 days and see what happens. Have you tried Vit. E? Have you tried CBD oil? Good luck.

very little coffee, I'm a tea drinker (matcha still has caffeine!).
Have not tried vitamin E or CBD oil, but I will now!

I read online that fibroid tumors could be "dissolved" which doesn't sound so bad.
Thanks for the suggestions!

Into other options first. I shrank the tumors and then had surgery to remove them trying to save my uterus. It worked out for me, but I have just read the worst things about Lupron.

look up diet guidelines to keep fibroids under control (hopefully). I think my biggest issue is cheese! I try to cut carbs and meats, that leaves me with veggies and cheese, guess I should reign that in. Good Luck with your health.

We have a very high rate of breast cancer in my family, so I have been tested twice a year since I turned 22. We also are blessed/cursed with very large/dense breasts, making the self-testing difficult. (I’ve read people stating Stormy’s measurements and how they are so unnatural and yell, “Hey! Watch it!” So every six months I get the mammo, I’m called back for a second, and then another test. I’ve had biopsies where they go in with kind of a needle, and pull some cells out, and lately they do ultrasounds, which I MUCH prefer to the mammo. So far, I’ve been ok. One under my arm really hurts, especially if I’m active and one near a nipple can get painful during PMS times. That one I can sometimes feel and it scared me. Nobody has ever suggested removing them, although I also had one fibroid in my uterus which was removed. Gave me great relief and was an in and out procedure.

I don't have a family history of breast cancer, but my mom has had fibroid tumors, and had them removed. One in her breast and one near her ovary. I'm curious why some are removed.

I also am "blessed" with dense breast tissue--it just makes the mammograms more painful! this time I had the 3D mammogram, no call back because it gives them several images to view. I've had one needle biopsy, they "tagged" the fibroid with a piece of metal so it will be easily recognized on future mammograms..

Do you take anything when they give you pain? I've been taking ibuprofen and a heating pad.

Plus a warm bath sometimes. I didn’t realize that’s what made my mammos so painful. I have friends who say they feel nothing. I’m on my tiptoes, squashed like the garage door came down on one breast and got stuck, unable to breath, and swearing inside that I’m starring in a sadistic BDSM MOVIE! My sister said the 4D one is much better. I haven’t been yet.

every time I think about how medieval the whole thing seems....
My very first mammogram the nurse saw a little tear in my eye because it was so painful, she told me that denser tissue is more painful with the compression...and yeah, I have friends who say it doesn't hurt at all...

You have inspired me to go get mine done. I’m a few months late, and it’s the pain that’s holding me back, but I actually feel a little better knowing why I have this pain other than the fact that I’m a wimp (and, really, I’m not!) So, thanks to this discussion, I’m going to phone the clinic and schedule my mammo tomorrow!
