They all know the others have murdered. Maybe I need to rewatch it.

I thought it was okay. I just didn't like the ending. Both cops had a dark past. And even though they were pretty sure they knew who committed the murders, they didn't have any actual proof. So they killed the guy?!?! And sending the red hair clip bugged me as well.

I don't think "they" killed him is accurate. The one did. And I don't think he intended to. It was an emotional reaction to all the bullshit that was going on.

Now, after that, yeah, they both worked to cover it up.

As to the red hair clip, I liked it. Denzel saw what it was doing to the guy even at the time when he kept digging to find the girl to get his proof. He didn't want this event ruining the guy's life like it did his. Sure, there is moral ambiguity here in the actually killing and subsequent cover up, but I thought sending the hair clip was a "noble" gesture of some sort.

He didn't mean to kill him But he didn't come clean either. And I have mixed feelings about sending him the hair clip. Sure it was intended to make him feel better. But it also meant he was justified in killing him and he'd never have to confess to the actual murder.
