Glaucoma drops that give you purple clown eyes, anybody?

My pressure was up so the dr switched me to Latanoprost, in addition to another drop I've always used, and now my eyes are encircled all around with purplish red coloring. I'll call the dr tomorrow but as I gaze in the mirror, I think I look like a waif on drugs.

They gave me a three-month supply; I was so happy about that. 😕

What other drug are you using, maybe check for interactions?

Yes, call doctor.

Just Dorzolamide/Timolol, the other eye drop I've been on for years. No other meds. I must be allergic to an ingredient. I hope there is a good alternative. Thank you for your reply.

One of my cats was on Dorzolamide and it caused severe eyelid inflammation. So you never know how a drug will affect someone, human or animal.

and no problems. My dad had glaucoma and the drops he took were wicked, that was years ago.
Good luck. I didn’t have it until I turned 71. Every one over 50 need regular check ups. There are no symptoms until it is way too late.

Drops have kept my pressure under control. The dr will have to come up with a new plan.

Glad you're having no problems.

When it all began, pressures > 50 each eye. Drops have my current readings around 16-18.

I don't remember what mine was to begin with, but drops have kept it 12-14 for years. Now it's gone up to 23, thus the new Latanoprost. I'll ask for a different one though, because I really do look scary. At least my mask covers the lower discoloration when I'm out in public.

They originally told me it might turn my blue eyes brown. Still waiting for that, LOL.

This is reassuring; I'm glad I posted about it, even though I probably have to change my drops.

Any of the Prostaglandin drugs for Glaucoma, like Latanoprost, can cause blue eyes (iris) to turn brown and they can discolor the skin around the eyes.

I would share your concern with your doctor. The redness might just be a form of allergic reaction.

I'll do it. If not, we must seek an alternative. My daughter took a screenshot while we were on FaceTime, and sent it to me. I look like the grim reaper. Ah, if only I had his powers...
