I started taking Citalopram yesterday. Generic Celexa. I had problems with depression

that have usually been considered event based but I was willing to try the meds. We'll see if it helps.

I've been doing pretty well overall as far as my life has been going but hit a rough patch and don't want to derail things. I just had my right shoulder replaced and am getting back to some regular strength training. I walk three miles a day and hope to be looking great by next spring.

I was wondering if anyone would like to tell me how it has worked for them? I feel fine so far. No sign of any side-effects. I was told not to expect to notice much difference in how I fell mentally for a couple weeks.

Fingers crossed for you. Injuries tend to get me down as well, but sounds like you are definitely on the right track w the shoulder rehab and return to strength training!

I am quite happy with it, but it doesn't work for everyone.

usually takes a few weeks to start getting a lot of benefit, but you should see some improvements in even a day.

it's a very good drug.

I eventually had to switch to Effexor because my OCD was breaking through. Honestly, I miss the Celexa, but I have to choose my battles. The Effexor does treat the OCD better. IMO, it takes a good six weeks to get the full benefit of SSRIs. Also, I take it on myself to go on a "medication holiday" to get my levels down every once in a while. I simply reduce my dose for a day or two then go back up. Note: This is NOT condoned and I have not told my doctor, but I swear it helps with certain minor side-effects. I've accepted that I will be on some form of anti-depressant for the rest of my life.

Good luck! I hope it helps.

day or so but that is gone, and I feel great. No too much of a concern. My BP was and pulse were about as good as you ever see for a 62 year old recently.

I hope that it helps. Personally, I will never put another SSRI into my body ever again. The side effects are bad. The damned things rewired my head and not in a good way. I am still very pissed off about this, as the offending facilities had no issue tossing them down my throat with little or no oversight or follow up.
