But something in my brain tells me to put off the following day even though it's impossible.

Yellow light.

I keep several books in reach. Either an old favorite book or tv series before sleep.

James Herriot is one.

you describe is fairly common. I've felt it myself, but
only when I'm alone. Are there people you can call or meet up with?

Have you told any professional type person who could advise you with the problem?...I have generalized anxiety myself, so I sympathize.

I am from the last of that time and I still always feel much more 'safe' at night due to this. It is during the day when one gets all the calla and demands and intrusions. At night, everything 'official' was closed. I always preferred night to day. This may have been a part of the decision to pursue an entertainment career. (Originally, like many actors, I was only thinking about theatre. The other mediums would have been nice, but film and television are usually confined to a very few places. Theatre happens anywhere there is a 'stage'.

Then life in these United States came crashing in and I had to take another job to survive. Almost two decades of land suveying made me a morning person whether I like it or not. And, now that I am decrepit and feeble, I can't even make it to midnight anymore, even with an afternoon nap. The loss of my stamina is one of the saddest things in my opinion. I HATE THAT I CANNOT DO MUCH OF ANYTHING ANYMORE!! (Sorry for the shouting, but I am past being destroyed over this. I just want it all to end.)

I would rather be wide awake than lying in bed watching the hours pass, knowing I will get, at the most, 3 hours of unbroken sleep. Fear of not being able to sleep keeps me up...viscous cycle.

No matter how anxious or sad I'm feeling, that little fur ball's purrs, along with her brother's, are the best mood changers.
