What do you do when you're really really pissed?

Nothing to do with politics here, but I'm major galaxy-class pissed off about a situation I really can't do anything about and looking for ideas as to how to "chill out" and not let it get to me as much as it is. Yes it affects me and my work.

Not looking for advice - just for what some of you have actually done in similar situations. How to feel about it and not let it get to me.

I turn on my sirius channel to classical music on the long drive back home. I found that it helps me cool off. Other things I have done is go out for a long walk in the woods or a swim.

I turn off the lights and close the window blinds. I focus
on something good and just sit until I feel better about the situation.

Turn the heat down as low as it gets then walk away, for now. Occupy your mind with other things that need your time.

Your plan is to come back to that issue at some later time, it'll be there. You can address it then, you'll both be changed in some way or

another.

is repeat some positive thoughts from several of my favorite writers like Wayne Dyer, Vernon Howard and Robert Greene:
"Be a detached observer, aware of everything but affected by nothing" -- Vernon Howard
"We choose to let things bother us, we can just as easily choose to ignore them" -- Robert Greene
"When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change" -- Wayne Dyer

Not a diary or a journal but just writing stuff down on a piece of loose leaf paper helps a lot. Since I no longer can take Xanax, the only "relief" I get is smoking Indica before I go to bed. Also, pacing back and forth, yelling, banging counter tops, tossing stuff onto the floor, etc helps in the short term. I get very angry and very quickly so I have learned to try various methods of cutting down the instant anger. Nothing really works for me though. I am a passionate, emotional person so dealing with this aspect of my personality is an ongoing battle.

Have you noticed that, on occasion, most people seem to think you are being angry and loud and argumentative when you are just being passionate? It seems these days that saying anything above a regular voice and doing anything other than sitting quietly is considered 'out of control' or something. I am also a passionate person and I am always being mistaken for being angry or upset about something when I am just being animated. It is a major issue with some people, as they seem to be unable to be around someone who is more animated than a corpse. I find it very strange.

makes it even worse. I can only let loose alone at home or I will be deemed "nuts". That's where I let ot out in private.

Although there are times when it slips out anyway. I try though. I can say one thing about this though. Sitting quietly and being subdued has not gotten much done in a social setting nor a political one to be honest. Maybe it is time to stop sitting quietly and speaking in a normal voice?

And find a place where I can't hurt anyone or anything and I pick up a rock and throw it as hard as I can, and another, then another for about five minutes or my shoulder gives out.

Then I think about the issue that pissed me off and while my sense of aggression is used up, I find some kind of clarity about it.

No music, no podcasts…silence. However long it takes. If you have a pack, put something in it…enough to feel, but not “heavy”.

Start early, daybreak even. Even if you feel exhausted from not sleeping right. It’s almost impossible (for me anyway) to stay pissed after watching a sunrise.

Then, after you are worn out, go home and get a nap.

That’s what works for me.

books is soothing to me. I have tried reading books on my iPad and a Kindle, but I need the feel of a book in my hands to relax while reading.
