I am sick of these doctors that have huge organizations under

them where they have no idea what is going on.

I went to the psychiatric nurse today, my second session for meds. The first time I went she told me that she wanted me off Klonopin because it can cause dementia. (I looked and I cannot find one study that finds a clear drug/dementia connection. They say it can cause it in the elderly but they get dementia a lot anyway. I also asked her last time to provide a study proving her assertions but she had nothing today.

I have rapid cycling bipolar 1. I can go up in a matter of minutes it seems if something really pisses me off.

So I got riled up and she started saying I was being loud and if I didn't stop she would throw me out, (I naturally have a loud voice, I was not screaming at her. Which she did. I then turned on the video and recorded her and some supervisor outside the room. She was pissed and I either don't care or I'm happy about it. Not sure.

Personally I think I offended her with some statements I made. Nothing directly at her just arguing with what she said.

I also told her I was not sleeping. A big symptom of mania. I am only on Lamictal and Klonopin as drugs to control this.

But she looked at me shaking and mad and said. "I'm cutting your Klonopin in 1/2."

Really? You fucking young nurse with very little experience? I can not take any anti-psychotic even for a short time because it causes severe akathisia. And you want to take me off the only other medication that can calm me down, (and not all the way......I am hard to get down sometimes. With me it seems like my body speeds up without me knowing it is happening until later)

AND she is supposed to be a psychiatric mental health nurse and she is offended when someone comes in with symptoms of a mental illness??? Seriously?

I hate being treated like a herd of cattle going through one of the metal shoots so they can be massed dosed with whatever medicine they "need". Don't tell me in the first 15 fucking minutes that you first see me that you are going to take me off my medicine.

I had another straight out of school doctor try to do the same thing. Her reason was "I don't want you to die:"

I have literally been taking this type of medicine for 45 years. And your little nursing degree thinks that YOU should be the one to change this.

I found out the name of the doctor in charge, (this place is huge and there is only one MD Psychiatrist. I'm sure he is making quite a buck. There are 2 other locations for this particular company.

So much of US healthcare has been taken over by greed.

Unfortunately the doctors that care are driven out of business by those that just want to make big bucks.

Mental health is probably prone to this more than other groups because it's hard to advocate for oneself while dealing with the problems. And MH is not integrated into the global health systems.

Every day I read articles about how VC and fraudulent doctors are ripping off the system. Yet the US is seemingly in thrall to rich charlatans.

to send to him. I'd like to ask him is he even read the notes of any of myriad of non-doctors he is in charge of.

I think you nailed it, that if something is working and no documented studies tying it to dementia why be in such a hurry to yank you off it.

about 15 years ago. It had helped me a lot as well as Xanax and both were suddenly on the "NO" list. I was told varying stories, from being addictive to causing dementia. I was pissed off since I had been taking them for over 10 years and then out of the blue they said no one can have either one. They also prescribed me Ambian for sleep and then tried to tell me the same thing...long term dementia, etc. I said BS! My 80 year old father needed Klonopin and was told the same thing a few months after starting Klonopin. What the fuck?!? He was 80!!! He didn't care about addiction or dementia bit the doctors have gone to the extreme these last few years due to all the younger people who are abusing these illegally obtained meds. They screwed it up for the whole country and now senior citizens can't even get pain killers for more than 3 days, even after surgery.

Same with diagnosis. I remember years ago that split personality became all the rage. People coming out of rehab saying they had more than one personality. It was so stupid.

If you "fire" your doctor (or they quit you or the profession itself in frustration...) it can take a long time to find a new doctor. This is especially difficult if you are taking the kinds of drugs many doctors are reluctant to prescribe.
