We have a VERY tough battle ahead of us in this recall and anyone here on DU who thinks otherwise is completely mistaken.

But there's currently no declared race yet either.

Abortion is just one of a myriad of issues politicians deal with. You're going to get the same outcome on abortion issues no matter which candidate wins. But you won't get the same outcome on many other issues and that's the point, I think.

The district I was born and grew up in was represented by a pro-life Democrat for 24 years. He was quite popular and had strong bipartisan support in the district. He was pretty much untouchable and probably could have stayed in the seat until he died. He decided to leave the House in 2002 to take a job with the UN and was promptly replaced by a Republican who will likely stay in the seat as long as he wants (I predict he will eventually try for the Senate or governor's mansion).

The Democrat probably would have voted the same as the Republican does on abortion issues. But on everything else, not so much.

I don't think the two are synonymous. I'm pro-life. I'm also pro-choice.

They can be anti-abortion privately, but when they try to force their anti-women views on me, that's where I draw the line.

I'm anti-abortion because in my world, there are enough contraceptives out there to not warrant an abortion for me. But that's a personal choice and I understand other women don't live in my world. I'm pro-choice for my fellow Americans. I want them to have the freedom to choose what works best for them.

abti-abortion people don't really want to loose their right of choice. I support the individual's right to choose, even if I disagree with the choice.

Republicans and anti-choice folks are NOT Pro-life. They don't give a shit about "life" after birth.

What they are is an Anti choice candidate. They are not "pro" anything.

Decisions should be between the woman and her doctor. It's not just poor little 14 year olds that seek abortions. Some times it's the 5th or 6th child of an older working mother. Women need the right to decide the path of their own life. Keep religion out of my political arena or we'll be back to tax your church. America could use the extra cash for those anchor babies.

He's the best we've had in my 40 year+ voting life, and as a devout Roman Catholic, he's pro-life. He doesn't do anything to promote the pro-life cause, but he doesn't run from his beliefs either.

I'll put Ryan's year in year out voting record up against nearly any congressman in the House.

I'd have no problem supporting him/her. None whatsoever. Anybody stuck on one issue has got it too good.

Even poor health care coverage may not kill me as quickly as inability to have a safe abortion if I need one.
