I have, in the past few months started to explore roasting the tasty stuff from the nightshade
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solanaceae family.
I found that the masher and basket are effective in processing roasted tomatillos.
Public Service Announcement: Slice the tomatillos before mashing. Otherwise you
will have green burns on your face and hands.
You'll thank me later.

I usually use a blender, stick or standard, but I only do small quantities at a time, enough for soups. Even with a stick blender, it's wise to stick them all with a knife first so you don't end up with tomatillo explosions.
