What's for Dinner, Sat., Jan. 20, 2018

I'm slow roasting peppers using "convection roast" to make my roasted pepper/tomato/mozzarella sandwiches, on which I also put roasted chipotle. I have brioche rolls.

As far as an accompaniment, sauteed Swiss chard with raisins and almonds.

Dessert: slice of coconut pie topped with vanilla pudding.

with black beans, grilled onions and peppers and avocados. Cold Smoke beer to wash it down. Chocolate zucchini bread for something sweet later. 😏

with korean barbecue sauce and made a huge salad. We had grapes too. Cake and candy followed...Sis, lives with us and is one of the best people in the world. She lived with another family member who basically took all her money and neglected her. She is handicapped with bad arthritis and on disability. How anyone could treat a wonderful loving person like this ( or anyone else especially if you are a family member) , I don't know. However, their loss is our gain. It was wonderful having her here with my kids as we were away from family and she gave them (and her brother and me) more than you can imagine.

do you get the Korean barbecue sauce at a store or make it? I'm just asking because I have a Korean greengrocer here and if it's available there, I'd like to try it.

Your sister sounds lovely, and you're lucky to have her. Wow, it's bad enough when total strangers, such as lawyers and people in assisted living or nursing homes take someone's money, but it really hard to understand when a family member does that.

Nice party--bet she really enjoyed it.

Believe it or not Aldi's also carries one that is quite good...no corn syrup or anything awful in it...and gluten free. Sis did enjoy it...we all did...bittersweet though. My son was able to transfer to Indiana (Fort Wayne) With GM he leaves April 2nd. He has been on layoff since February of 17. He was set to go back to school, but this way GM pays for most of it. We will miss him...about 3 hours from Cleveland. I can visit. Such a quick change. Five years ago I had all the kids living at home...didn't see any leaving anytime soon and now all out living their lives...which is what you want of course...but well I miss them.

I got some chicken quarters at Sparkles that has good prices and quality meat for 39 cents a pound. I actually prefer dark meat...my son said he wasn't eating any pizza...trying to lose weight...but of course he ate the pizza! Thanks for posting the dinner menu and all. I get some great ideas...and I have to say you eat the most interesting yummy sounding food!
