What's for Dinner, Sat., June 23, 2018

Strawberry and tomato salad with a dressing made especially for it. Sounds weird but it's incredibly good.

Shrimp, clams, and mango with orzo. Also has garlic and white wine in it.

Dessert: mochi.

I have been craving a cheeseburger, so that, grassfed beef patty, swiss cheese & salad. Iced tea.

It was made with chickpeas, quinoa & walnuts, and on top, fontina, lettuce, pickles, and roasted tomato. There was also a chef-created sauce that went with it. For an appetizer, I had smoked chicken wings with Buffalo sauce and something they called "Alabama white bbq sauce."

The RG had fish tacos. His appetizer was calamari.

We ordered a slice of blueberry pie. I have never seen such large blueberries. Some of them were about 3/4 of an inch wide. The slice of pie was 4 inches high, and they served it with both whipped cream and ice cream. The crust was like a very thin cookie.

I shaved some tri-tip on the mandolin while semi-frozen. With onions and mushrooms. And a green salad.

And a beer, because it's Saturday.

We've been eating jalapeno poppers and mozzarella sticks. The breaded prepared ones from the freezer you bake.

Those were TJ's choice to snack on. I try not to eat stuff like that, but they were tasty.

I've got a pot of beans on the stove. Ham stock and ham from my freezer. This time no veggies and I plan to add tomato paste near the end of cooking. Seasoning is salt, pepper, dried garlic flakes, and onion powder. Possibly some brown sugar or molasses. I'm making, well attempting to make, my version of baked beans.

I'll have beans and a tossed salad later unless we decide different.

I don't know what FLFC ate. I did see him scurry out of the kitchen with some bacon hanging from his mouth. I'm pleased to say he has been wandering around the house investigating things this afternoon. His self-motivated movement is a good thing. We have all the blinds shut so he can't see any birds to harass. Much less worried about him this evening.

LOL. Love it.

Pretty soon he'll be bashing you for eating freezer appetizers.

No bashing, However, he'll be impolitely asking for some.

Cute story:
He came to us with many bad habits. One bad one was he would get close to us when we were eating and "ask" for food by barking loudly. I would shush him, shh, shh. One day I had a treat and told him to sit. All good, he sat. Then I told him speak. He sneezed. I said speak and he sneezed again. It seems that a sneeze is the best he can do at going shh. So now when he wants some of your food he sneezes on your plate.

Sometimes you can't win.
