The RG slow-roasted lamb, carrots, and potatoes with herbs. He also made a baked pasta dish.
We are having an appetizer of goat cheese on sliced apples with walnuts.
Mango salad with apple and nectarine. The herbs make this salad: spearmint and thyme. I don't know what the "dressing" is but it's very light--maybe just a couple drops of ginger syrup.
For dessert, fresh chocolate. Yeah, I know--have you ever heard of this fresh chocolate? It's called Nama Chocolate and they are dusted with cocoa powder. I think they are sold at Grand Central or someplace like that. They melt in your mouth. Really, never had a chocolate like this. The closest thing might be a truffle, but this is not as sweet.

(46,315 posts)Steamed broccoli with butter and fresh lemon juice and grated lemon rind.
Boiled red (new) potatoes with spiced sauce.
Two different recipes for poached salmon: one in wine sauce, the other with fresh fennel.
Salmon was wild-caught, organic, filet cut, and from Scotland. Bought 2-1/2 lbs.
And the meal was mmmmmmmmmmarvelous!

(35,841 posts)The RG spent about 10 days in Scotland last year around this time and he said the salmon there has so much more taste than what we get here.
Lucky you. Sounds like a great meal.

(46,315 posts)It was win/win/win with organic, wild-caught, and Scotland.
Plus I had a $10 off when you spend $50 at Fairway. So 2-1/2 lbs of Scottish salmon came to $33. (Original price was $16.99)
I also am pleased as this was my maiden voyage using the fish poacher.

(1,711 posts)bone-in baby back ribs. It was storming earlier, so after a dry rub, I cooked them in the Instant Pot, then put BBQ sauce and broiled a few minutes. Potato salad and a green salad with local lettuce for sides, and dessert of pound cake, whipped cream and strawberries.

(6,130 posts)A few pelicans, an osprey or two.
Fresh fish tacos, quac, etc., various salads, shrimp gumbo, maybe some grilled shrimp. Hulled six pounds of local shrimp yesterday; makes them easier to enjoy today.
Boy is it really hot in the Carolinas!

(35,841 posts)the RG said he was craving one. I was going to the store and he asked me to buy him some. I said no because I didn't want a whole package around here. Then when I got there I saw a package of 5-7 or so were $7!! So double-no then. I told him we would go to some hot dog place around here if he still had his craving.

(35,841 posts)Ummmm, Beyond Burger.
BTW, I meant to mention I paid $7 for mine the other day, but a couple days earlier, the RG found them at WF for $2.50! There was only one package left and it was some type of promo because there was a flyer on top of the last package.
Yep, they are a bit pricey but I'll bet they will come down in price over time.

(33,065 posts)Waaay too mild for brats, texture & cooking were okay, but the taste isn't there; overpriced IMO
NJCher
(35,841 posts)because the supermarket guy showed me the brats but I decided not to buy them when he told me they were $9. Way too much.
