Tore out all disgusting flooring🤮 (mostly carpet) in our house when we were redoing everything before we moved in.

The people who owned my house had 3 cats, 3 dogs, a couple of birds, and they fostered both cats and dogs. The carpet was minging, and what was under it wasn't a hell of a lot better, all the pets having multiple accidents on a daily basis.

I steamed the floors, had them sanded and sealed, and wove a lot of throw rugs to cover the biggest sins.

The carpet wasn't 70s shag, it was 80s pile and probably not bad when it was installed in the 80s.

Goes great with natural wood. Suggest taking a clean flat razor to lift the paint spots.

I am the cleaner upper for hubby..he is still painting houses..of course..depends on the paint used for the ceilings..we use flat white ceiling paint..we use semi gloss on doors and baseboards..eggshell finish on walls..all have washed off with warm water..

A soft cloth and warm water has been my go to..we have wood floors and white semi glass baseboards - invariably, even a great tape and paperer needs clean up where the baseboard meets the flooring..your floors are beautiful, so I would hesitate to use any chemical based cleaner..

Its quiet (I'm a noise freak) when things are dropped on it they don't break,gives the whole room a cozier, warmer feel, so much easier to care for and clean.

I’ll bet that paint comes up pretty easily. And, you’ve done the hardest part. I’m thrilled to have no wall to wall carpet. Wood is warm and wonderful…especially with pets.

What a difference one change can make.

Might be interesting to see the cats slide on the smooth surface as they scramble around chasing each other. Ember gets so exuberant when chasing toys tossed on my kitchen tile that she looks like a cartoon cat trying to slow down and get traction once she starts to slide. More than once she has slid right into the kitchen door.

Just one example for me - I was born with flat feet, but it didn't stop me from serving in the miitary. But an untreated sprained left anle shortly after I was separated from the miitary has, over time - more than forty years - sunk my left foot so low that if I step on uncarpeted (floor (well-cushioned carpeting at the) the impact pounds my navicular bone quite painfully. (I even have to "pad" the arch area of my left shoes with "Shoe Goo" - they prevent the impact paim, but that part of the shoe gets so much wear it disintegrates without the assistance.) The skin over the impact point is calloused, but not thickly enough to prevent it being painful - if it's even possible for calluses to be that thick. I do cope - just, for some reason, seeing your lovely wood floors reminded me why mine are carpeted
