Sure, we have a big winter storm heading for Raleigh (the whole SE - coast - etc)...but -

it is time - in fact, getting late - to plant seeds!

Note that I've changed my sig line pics to be more "seasonal"!

So, what sorts of garden are you planting DUers planning - or already growing - this year?

I have some good news - our little Dwarf project team is about to have another 8 varieties available...I sent seed to four companies today for them to package up and sell.

So, that makes it 25 tomato varieties in a project that started in 2006...with many more to come!

I am moving through the editing process for my book - will be looking at placement of pictures next...a few tomato pic retakes this summer. But....December won't take forever to get here - then hopefully will be making the book store rounds next year, giving talks - and meeting some of you???

It looks like that storm will really mess with you down there. Curmudgeoness Feb 2014 #3

At this rate we won't be able to plant anything until about June, which is maybe when the snow will melt.

Here in W PA, we deal with that all the time, but I know that you are not as prepared for this weather. As to planting seeds, it is about a month early for me to plant them....it isn't a good idea to plant outside until Memorial Day (and I have seen too many years that proved it with heavy frost the end of May).

I did notice your change of pictures yesterday. I almost said something, since I just love the tomato pictures, but I did realize you were trying to be more seasonal.

Can't wait for your book. I know that you will let us know when it is ready for sale, and your schedule for book signings. I know that I am too far from any important area for you to make it here, but I will be rooting for you.

this is probably a smart time to start seedlings, even if only on a sunny windowsill. There has got to be a produce shortage looming.

I'm thinking of getting to work on some lettuce, if nothing else.
