He is my wifes uncles furry boy. And he will be staying with us. As my wifes uncle has knee surgery tomorrow and then in-house rehab. His name is Rocky and he is so timid. He looks at boog like I dont know is it ok that I act like a dog. Boog has tried to get rocky to play. Hey I have a squeak toy you wanna chase me. Or hey look I got a rope you want to play tug of war. Were dogs rock boog says we do dog stuff. Ok how about sticks I have a collection of sticks branches we can chew em. Huh ok Im scraping the bottom of the barrel here to play rocky.
I even tried to help out this morning as boog chased a bunny. Hey rock look its a rabbit a live rabbit not mechanical. Rock just put his muzzle in my lap pet me and rub my ears you seem to like me. And please make that chocolate dog stop trying to hump me.

(776 posts)They are very very distinctive from other dogs. Psychologically very sensitive. Not food hounds. My old Greyhound, Pasha, (may he RIP) was like velcro. Always leaning against me. They're quite psychic. Absolutely lovely dogs. I've had one Greyhound and also 3 Labs and 2 mutts. Love them all.

Arkansas Granny
(31,543 posts)been really socialized much. It took them some them some time to rehabilitate her, for lack of a better term. She hadn't been raised as a pet, but as a working animal. She was very reserved and guarded until she got to know someone. She turned out to be a very affectionate dog. She was the first greyhound I had met and I surprised at her size. She would raise up, put her front paws around your neck and actually give you a hug.

(22,242 posts)Over the years, and a number of other Sighthounds (Saluki's, Borzoi's). Just love them. Wonderful dogs (just don't call them that to their faces!) As others have said, very cat-like, and aloof when they first meet someone. With their own family, they are so affectionate, playful, and quite intelligent. They always want to be with their human.
I think they don't see other breeds as being of the same species.
