Milestone reached yesterday. Puppy played with another at the dog park.

After 4 months of going to the dog park she finally played with another dog. She's 7 months and a bit over 40 lbs now and the other was one yr old and about 7 lbs, like one of our small cats size. They did the figure 8 thing where "I chase you until you turn around and chase me" and it was so cute and great to see.

Finding times when there are minimal dogs there seems to be working. If the other dog is a ball dog and ignores her, she's happy. Maybe now she'll expand out past cat sized dogs to bigger ones to play chase with.

It is a lot of time and energy and fun and I am glad it is working a bit. It has been difficult to be patient, with her wanting to be on the picnic table watching, was wonderful to see her not only tolerating being on the ground but actually having fun. I had to share. Thanks.

Years ago when I first adopted Henry, my Cairn, I hooked up with an early Sunday morning Lab group. The owners were really nice about Henry who was a nutty terrier puppy at the time. The Labs were all fantastic with him and very playful. I never had to worry about fights as, true to their breed, all of these gentle giants treated Henry like the baby he was.
