Salesforce relocating employees out of Indiana

Michael Anthony Adams, michael.adams@indystar.com 7:01 a.m. EDT April 3, 2015

A number of Salesforce employees working in the cloud computing company's Indiana branch are seeking relocation out of state due to the highly contested "religious freedom" law that lawmakers have recently revised in an attempt to protect gays, lesbians and transgender groups from being discriminated against.

In an interview this morning with CNN's Poppy Harlow, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said he'd received an email from one of his Indiana employees stating that he didn't "feel comfortable living" in the state anymore, and that Benioff needed to move him out.

"I gave him a $50,000 relocation package and said, 'great, you're clear to go,'" Benioff told Harlow.
