(CNN)Actor Vince Vaughn says he supports guns in schools to prevent mass shootings, detailing his stance in an interview in British GQ's July issue.
Vaughn, star of screwball comedies such as "Wedding Crashers," "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" and "Starsky & Hutch," came out full force in favor of the Second Amendment.
"I support people having a gun in public full stop, not just in your home," Vaughn said. "We have the right to bear arms to resist the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government.
"It's well known that the greatest defense against an intruder is the sound of a gun hammer being pulled back."
Schools without guns are targets for mass shooters, he said "In all of our schools it is illegal to have guns on campus, so again and again these guys go and shoot up these f***ing schools because they know there are no guns there," he said. "They are monsters killing six-year-olds.

(12,723 posts)Typical gun-humper logic the problem isn't too many guns it's not enough guns.
Fucking moron. Glad I never spent a penny watching his work.

(14,449 posts)I won't ban his work solely on this, but if he gets to into too many issues I care about and doesn't support them I will. The second amendment is still important in our country.

(45,358 posts)No amount of money will change that, even NRA money.

(9,951 posts)If he was lousy, he wouldn't be doing so good, he wouldn't be an A list actor, he wouldn't be raking in the money.
And what proof do you have that he gets money from the NRA?
Is this because he's a strong supporter of gun rights?
GGJohn
(9,951 posts)it may not stop a mass shooting, then again, it may.
As for Vince Vaughn being a republican, that's been known for years.

(2,375 posts)It makes absolutely no sense to be defenseless victims of monsters, particularly when the foaming fears of "Wild West shootouts" never materialize. I thought that our team held that empirical evidence reigned supreme on all issues. Clearly, that's just so much posturing.

(512 posts)But even more hilarious in person just hanging out...he had us ROLLING on the floor with tears in our eyes in the DFAC in Kuwait when he visited us.
That being said...who the hell cares what he thinks about guns...I'd much rather know exactly how candidates that I'm voting on think about and have voted on them.

(18,942 posts)don't much care. IMO a celebrity's opinion is no more valuable than any other person's opinion. They simply have access to a better platform than the rest of us do.
I may agree with a couple of his points but a blind squirrel come to mind...

(6,185 posts)Neeson comes out as very anti gun, after making millions of $ in the "Taken" and other series, which are nothing but start to finish two handed shooting action flix.
I'm not aware of any anti gun movies Vince Vaughan has made. But maybe I've missed a few.

(18,489 posts)There was this other actor, was in a bunch of westerns...
He became a politician after acting. Maybe we should adopt his way of thinking.
I know he was on Death Valley Days...
