Petition to ban kids with Uzis offers different picture of US gun owners

Atlanta — By a purely political calculus, the online petition launched this week to outlaw children’s access to automatic weapons has limited prospects. Efforts to rein in the use of automatic weapons by children already failed in two state legislatures last year.

But it matters, some experts and activists say, because of the people behind the petition and their message.

Sponsoring the petition is the family of Charlie Vacca, the instructor killed one year ago by a 9-year-old New Jersey girl in pink shorts when she lost control of an Uzi rifle at a popular Arizona gun range. And the message is no broadside against Americans’ Second Amendment rights, but what the family calls a "common sense" appeal to gun owners and non-gun owners alike.

“Laws say that children can’t drink, can’t drive, can’t vote. But they can shoot fully automatic assault weapons. That hasn’t changed,” Mr. Vacca’s oldest daughter, Elizabeth, says on the petition.

and the problem with the micro Uzi and the girl was more to do with her upper body strength, or lack of, and the gun's light weight than her age. The instructor should have known that and was an idiot for standing where he was and not telling her how to fire in bursts. If she really wanted to fire a machine gun, they should have provided a heavier gun mounted on a tripod or bipod.

a whatzit as a whozit! Now we can ignore the whole point of the article.

That gets so fucking tiresome.

But tell me, what do your moles in the psyops group Moms Demand Action tell you these days?

I guess you'd be more comfortable at the point in humanities past, when getting to the bottom of things, knowing the facts of things, the why and the how of things, was considered heresy.

Maybe in the future you can shorten your posts by just saying 'heretic' or 'blasphemer'.

the petition. Besides I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the guy who believes that MDA is a psyops organization and claims to have moles inside the organization.

The late Mr. Vacca was the problem. He gave the child the gun. He did not maintain control. He put himself in a dangerous position. Sorry for the family but the law is not necessary.
