he poured over two million in couple of local races. Even the local newspapers, who usually endorses Democrats, endorsed the Republican and said it was because of Bloomberg sticking his nose in and trying to buy their election. IOW, it was less about guns, or anything else, and more about out of state billionaires trying to buy elections.

backed 2 Democrats in the VA State Senate elections. Jeremy McPike won, but it appears Democrat Dan Gecker lost his race.

The gun nuts are thrilled over that.

Jill McCabe who was by all means the perfect democratic candidate ran heavily on gun control and also lost to a tea party nut in one of the most wealthy districts in America.

It's the wealthiest county in the United States with a population over 65,000. You can get over there via 28 from Maryland.

A nonprofit’s analysis of political advertising shows that Virginia candidates and outside groups spent more than $10 million running more than 20,000 TV ads this election season.

Michael Bloomberg’s gun control group led all spenders with $2.1 million in estimated spending trying to help Democrats in two key Senate seats, based on an analysis by The Center for Public Integrity.

In one of those key seats, GOP nominee Glen Sturtevant outspent his opponent Democratic Dan Gecker $915,000 to $770,000, based on the estimated figures. In the other, Democrat Jeremy McPike outspent GOP candidate Hal Parrish $888,000 to $437,000.

The Center for Public Integrity’s analysis used data from Kantar Media/CMAG, a media tracking firm that offers a widely accepted estimate of the money spent to air each spot.

Republican Richard Black has won re-election to the Virginia state Senate, fighting off an aggressive challenge from Democrat Jill McCabe.

With 80 percent of precincts reporting, Black had 53 percent of the vote, compared to 47 percent for McCabe.

The district stretches through the conservative outer suburbs of Loudoun and Prince William counties. Black has long been one of the legislature’s most outspoken conservatives.

Last year, Black garnered widespread attention after he wrote a letter to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad praising him for protecting the country’s Christians. The letter prompted criticism from both human rights activists and Islamic State militants who are fighting Assad there.

McCabe, a pediatrician, raised more than $1.2 million, far more than Black, in her effort to win the seat.

I thought McCabe had unlimited potential. She brought in a ton of money, she's smart, one of the best campaigns I've seen run. I believe she has a future in politics.

She just needs to drop the gun control rhetoric next time around, or run in Maryland.

Sheesh.

You keep trying too convince people that they'll be safer if they stop owning guns (or at least "assault weapons&quot . That if an individual gets rid of their guns, it will somehow stop a mass shooting.

You keep failing, but the right-wingers that become legislators on your failure rack up a body count, too. A big one: for-profit prisons create a large pool of career criminals. Slashes to health care, shuttering Planned Parenthood, abstinence-only education, closing hospitals, severely restricting abortion rights, charter schools, crony capitalism, right-wing educational baked, and prohibitively massive college tuition are the drivers of violence.

Not only will the laws you want passed do very little, you'll make the situation far worse by enabling the opposition!
