'An odd situation': President Biden aims to tighten firearms sales. Hunter Biden is caught in the crosshairs

A federal gun law that Hunter Biden is charged with violating is under siege, challenged in court by people who think it is unconstitutional. That puts his father, President Joe Biden, in an awkward position, since he thinks gun background checks should be even tighter.

Courts are grappling with which gun laws should stand and which should be struck down, after a 2022 Supreme Court decision triggered a flood of additional gun-related lawsuits.

In February, a federal judge in Oklahoma dismissed a case related to the same charge Hunter Biden faces by finding it “unconstitutionally vague." The defendant in that case had been pulled over by police, who found a gun and marijuana cigarettes in his vehicle.

In August, the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the law unconstitutional in the case of someone who used marijuana while possessing a gun. “It is a close and deeply challenging question,” the court ruled.

There have be some interesting reactions to this situation. Doublethink has moved from literature into the real world.

Where was his gun application?

Hunter lied about his addiction on the application. The gun was never loaded...never fired. In his possession for eleven days.
His charges are BULLSHIT.

This is very OBVIOUSLY selective prosecution and PERSICUTION of the President's son.

You know, because he wanted to tell his story.

Fortunately, federal courts may help Hunter out by declaring the question unconstitutional. I hope they do.

Doesn’t seem relevant to whether he broke the law when he purchase it.

Was there something wrong with Rittenhouser’s application?

Could use to justify those rules. He can just say he, like Republicans, believes that people shouldn't be able to lie on their gun applications.

official, will pursue his policy objectives, and those of his party, no matter what legal woes befall his son. I would suggest it is conservatives who are in a bind. They want to prosecute Hunter for crimes they did not consider crimes during the Trump administration.
