Gun Control & RKBA
Related: About this forumThe Raul Rodriguez and Jerome Ersland convictions show me the system is working......
Jerome Ersland, an idiot Pharmacist, who stopped an armed robbery with gunfire (correctly) and then decided to go back, grab another gun, and then murder one of the suspects who was unarmed and unconscious. Guilty!
Raul Rodriguez, another idiot who decided loud music was worth starting a confrontation, and then decided he wanted to shoot someone because he felt scared. Guilty!
Both these idiots convicted in conservative states. Raul Rodriguez in Texas and Jerome Ersland in Oklahoma.
This is great news for Concealed Carry gun owners who know that the last possible thing you want to do is shoot someone. And then only if there is immediate and unavoidable danger of death or grave bodily harm to an innocent person.
I am glad the system is working.

(1,076 posts)what happened since there is no link. There is no doubt that these two people behaved badly. Why would you go get another gun and shoot an unconscious person, and a noise complaint? Call the cops and go back to bed and let them handle it. People have to realize that when you decide to carry a gun a lot of responsibility comes along with the gun. You have placed yourself in a very vulnerable area and you are suddenly responsible for the safety of others if you decide to use your weapon.
You have to be fully aware of the ramifications of taking a human life, some people never get over it even if the shooting was in self defense. You also have to be aware of the legal problems that could follow you for years. It should not be just a matter of strapping it on and going to town, you need to think about what you are doing. I think the issuance of CCW's is weak in several areas. Some states require little or no training, bad idea. Some don't even require you to qualify with the weapon you will be carrying, another bad idea. I fully support concealed carry but we have to apply some common sense.

(54,770 posts)Some CCW laws are modeled after other states and it seems they are hastily rolled out without being fully tested first. The NRA doesn't care about it.All they want is to be able to declare victory. Some will say I am not a true advocate of the 2A because I support concealed carry laws. They are entitled to their opinion. I just think that if you are going to take on the responsibility of carrying a gun you need to have some training first, it doesn't infringe on the right IMHO it does however ensure that the person carrying the gun at least knows the law and is proficient with weapon they are going to carry.
Every state is different and some qualification requirements are pretty thin, and in some cases non-existent. Oh well, the powers that be decide what is and what ins't. Be careful out there.
