Anyone here read/reading The Awakening, by Kate Chopin?

A book re-popularized by John Goodman's character in Treme ( GREAT show, if you have not seen it).

I found a Kate Chopin web site, which provides information about the background and setting of the book
( really recommend browsing thru the "Southern Culture" section)

You recommend, I'm assuming? My book is in storage with all my other books, which I probably won't be able to get out for another year. I'll remember to have another look at it then.

I have a copy in my Nook, and often read on the 'puter also.

Very controversial for its time. We teach her short story "Story of an Hour" in our high school and it has a lot of the same undertones.

Will have to check out Treme.
