dmallind's question got me to wondering.
As most of you know, I was a rabid Cowboys fan from the days of Eddie LeBaron (mim wasn't even born yet). But when that Arkie son-of-a-bitch, Jerry Jones, bought them, I quit. I was also a big fan of the Texas Rangers until that other son-of-a-bitch, *, and his enabler, Tom Hicks, became the owners. But now since they are gone I like that team again.

(1,614 posts)I grew up watching Plum, Sweetan, Karras, Barney etc. as a kid and loved the Lions. After years of frustration with the ownership, I gave up on them. I don't even watch the NFL anymore.

(20,365 posts)The NFL has sure lost its luster for me. Interminable replay delays contributed too.

It had my thanking the gods there is replay.

(2,478 posts)... I gave them sons a bitches 20 years of my life and they gave me heartache. As an adult, after the second straight sweep in the division series, I told them to go to hell. I ditched all my Cubs gear (lots!) and told all my friends and family I am done. This came as a shock to many people given the level of my fandom (including license plates). Many still believe that I am secretly a fan, but I am not. I even received a Cubs shirt for my birthday and I gave it to my pal. DONE DONE DONE
Also: When I moved to Cleveland, I had a brief dalliance with the Clowns, but I dropped them quickly after they moved to Baltimore. I am 1000% better for having done it. I love to make fun of the Clowns fans every Monday.
