From the "Hands Up Who DIDN'T See This Coming" department:
(T)he coach would not see him and staff told him to leave...but Diddy went to Alosi's office...Alosi told him to get out and threatened to call security if he didn't leave. We're told Diddy said, "Fine, I'll call police," and Alosi snapped -- going after Diddy with his hands...Diddy insists he grabbed a kettlebell and held it up in a defensive position, but did not attack with an intent to injure the coach...
Our UCLA sources tell us...Alosi...was on the phone...Diddy was told to "hang on," but he wasn't having it and picked up a kettlebell and swung it, narrowly missing Alosi. One source said if Diddy had connected, it could have killed Alosi...We're also told the entire altercation is on video...Diddy was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon...
Diddy is referred to by the UCLA staff as a "helicopter dad" for hovering over practices...Alosi...was (the) NY Jets coach who was suspended...in 2010 after tripping a Miami Dolphins player who was covering a punt.
Maybe they can settle this by having Justin give his scholarship to someone who actually needs it. Meanwhile, I feel a reality show series coming on: "If you liked Friday Night Tykes and Dance Moms, you'll love Helicopter Dads!" Starring Diddy and Justin; Puff Daddy and his son Cordell, who just got into UCLA; and Jon Bon Jovi and his son Jesse, who walked on as a kicker at Notre Dame. Who else would qualify?

Alosi then instructed interns who were immediately outside his office to alert campus security. A still incensed Diddy then came around Alosis desk, saying that he would get campus security on Alosis desk phone. Alosi, then, according to witnesses, put up his hand in a non-threatening way, and instructed Combs to get his father out of the office. Diddy then walked into Alosis hand, and told Alosi not to put his hands on him...
In the next moment...Diddy attacked Alosi, until interns and other personnel pulled off Diddy. The celebrity broke free again at one point and struck Alosi. The personnel were then successful in getting Diddy out of the office and into the weight room, where Diddy picked up a kettlebell...and then swung it at one of the interns...5 or 6 people...rushed in to break up the fight...
The UCLA training facility...is equipped with security cameras...(T)he police watched the video, and subsequently arrested Diddy...
-- 3 counts of assault w/ deadly weapon
-- 1 count of making terrorist threats
-- 1 count of battery
Diddy was eventually released on bail after posting $50k bond...
Nothing that a big fat donation to the scholarship fund can't cure...

They'd LIKE to make Diddy persona non grata, but he's too good at writing large checks.
I think it would be great for the team to send the message that UCLA is no place for poor little rich boy spoiled brats, even if they do employ coaches with tainted pasts.
Yep, blame it on the know-nothing intern -- I wouldn't be surprised if he and whoever showed the cops the video are the only ones who get canned.
Yeah, the "problem" is that Diddy would start either trashing the coaches' reputations or dishing out race cards like Frisbees!

(56,177 posts)What amazes me is the coach chews the kid out and he runs to Daddy...they need to cut the spoiled brat from the team.

(16,113 posts)Or was daddy just watching the whole thing and felt that it was his place to step in? I've seen enough of this crap at the little league and high school level to see plenty of children embarrassed on the sidelines over their parent's behavior.

(56,177 posts)The son apparently got kicked out of the weight room practice by Aliso, and then it was a couple hours later when he and DiddyDaddy showed up in Aliso's office, so yeah, he went and told DiddlyDaddy

(16,113 posts)I can easily see a kid telling his father what happened (his father was going to hear it eventually anyway from some sort of TMZ-type report) and asking his father NOT to get involved. Only to have his father not listen. In the end, it was the father who flipped out, not the son. I put the blame on him. It certainly didn't make the son's life any easier as a football player.

(56,177 posts)out of the weight room if not for Diddly/Daddy...the kid hardly played at all so it's not like he really was on anyone's radar.

(44,588 posts)what else could he say -- that at the age of 21, he doesn't know how accept accountability or handle his own problems?

Justin looks a little out of shape, and there was something said. He was actually removed from the workout. (Diddy) got the report from Justin and marched over. What I learned was they were going to let this go, because the UCLA folks didnt want to press charges, Neuheisel said. But when the campus police arrived on the scene, they looked at the film...
Im sure Justin feels horrible for...putting his dad in the situation...by going home and telling him what happened at practice instead of just dealing with it. Now Justin has to determine whether or not he can still be a part of this team..."
Neuheisel...admitted it would be "doubtful" Combs would be playing at UCLA if not for his fathers fame..."When youre weighing the assets of what a youngster can do for your program, theres no question (being Diddys son) had something to do with it for me. Justin is a great kid. His problem was his size -- hes not big enough to be a dominant player. Could he be productive? Yes. The fact his father was an influential guy played into my decision to go ahead and offer him.
If Alosi deduced that Justin had lied to him about his private training sessions, that would explain his blowup. If Neuheisel recruited Justin though he was too small to be dominant player, that might have "played into" ULCA's decision to fire him. And here's hoping Neuheisel Senior doesn't have any plans to beat up the coach if he doesn't like that the way Neuheisel Junior is treated!

(44,588 posts)Los Angeles County prosecutors have declined to charge rap mogul Sean Diddy Combs with felony assault and battery on a UCLA intern and an assistant football coach during a dispute over the singer's son, a player on the Bruins squad.
a spokesman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office, said prosecutors declined to file felony charges related to his June 22 arrest. The case was referred to the Los Angeles city attorney to decide whether Combs' conduct amounts to a misdemeanor. The prosecutors received the case Tuesday.
No doubt clearing the way for a plea deal. But will Aliso's punishment of Justin stand?
