Hope Solo admits she intentionally messed with Germany before crucial PK miss

Hahahaha Hope Solo admitted she stalled to mess with Celia Šašić's head before her stunning, critical penalty miss during the USWNT's 2-0 win at the Women's World Cup semifinal.

I would love to share with you guys my mindset but unfortunately — or fortunately — we have one more game going into the final. I did the stall tactic. It worked.

Šašić', the top goal-scorer in the Women's World Cup, was unable to give Germany a 59th-minute lead.

It's a bold strategy to admit to stalling after a match! Solo likely didn't care if she got a yellow card because she'd still be allowed to play in the final.

Could I actually be warming up to Han's daughter?!

The blame is solely on Celia Sasic. Hope Solo should not have bee able to get into Sasic's head. I will acknowledge that I have never played organized sports on any level, but I think when you get to that level you should be able to make plays no matter how much someone tries to stall you.

The batter will quickly call timeout and step out of the batter's box. So then the pitcher walks off the mound. It's all little attempts to get in your opponent's head. Everyone in sports does it.

The PK favors the kicker overwhelmingly. The keeper has nothing to lose, really.
If it goes in, it was supposed to.
If it doesn't, the keeper is a hero, the taker a goat.

I've taken important PK's in my better footie days and they're incredibly nerve-wracking.
