Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze said Thursday he was caught off-guard by the comments made by former offensive lineman Laremy Tunsil, who said during the opening night of the NFL draft that an Ole Miss coach had given him money.
I know nothing, Freeze said. Im not involved in the fact-finding process. I was shocked like everyone else (last Thursday night) living it out in real time but confident that our administration is going to find the facts and then give us a new report on it.
Tunsil had a memorable (or forgettable) draft night after a hacker posted text messages between Tunsil and John Miller, Ole Miss assistant athletic director for football operations, talking about the exchange of money to help pay bills on Tunsil's Instagram.
Tunsil was asked about it shortly after he was drafted and said: I made a mistake. That happened.
When asked for clarity on whether he was talking about taking money from a coach Tunsil said, Id have to say yeah.

(16,113 posts)And haven't been a crusader about "low character" and "fair play" only when it comes to other teams. At worst, my house is translucent, not see through. I don't take issues with signing "low character" signing, but only for specific teams.

(16,113 posts)I'm not a big fan of blaming coaches for things their players did AFTER they've come and gone (like Mercury Morris getting a 20 year sentence for drug trafficking), but bringing in players that already have a history of low character is certainly an issue that the Patriots and all other teams are guilty of.
As I said in another thread, if Belichick was the only one bringing in players with an established history of things like beating their girlfriends, you might have a great case, but the Stubblefield argument just makes you look ridiculous. If Belichick had brought in, say, Brandon Marshall or Larry Johnson or Ndamakong Suh already knowing their long history of "low character", you'd have a better argument.
On the upside for Miami, Tunsil won't even be the lowest character on Miami's D-Line next year. I hear that Suh guy is as dirty as they come.

You stay classy, Trumad, just like your Dolphins D-line.

(16,113 posts)Any hope of credibility on any issues related to cheating or "low character". I no longer have any interest in any opinion you have on the subject. You've clearly demonstrated your only interest in the issue is when it plays into your prejudices.
I've put out my opinion on every issue I've been asked about, patriots included, so don't give me that "refused to talk about" bullshit. Hell, your own Marlins had a guy bagged for 80 games and you still haven't felt compelled to voice any opinion on it yet. You chimed in to try to tie stubblefield to the patriots several times but didn't feel compelled to comment on an active player on your own team getting caught during the season in the last 10 days?

(16,113 posts)Cheering for murder because you think it helps you make an argument told me all I need to know about the value of your opinions.
Here's a tip, if you find yourself cheering for murder and think you've won an argument, you don't understand what's going on.

Ill be very quick to come out and defend us when its something that we know the facts on. I dont at this present time."
I know our administration is working, and Im told they made a lot of progress, that theyre collecting everything so they know exactly what the facts are before we run out and make any type of response.
"...theres great wisdom in being patient and making sure you get the facts, and were still in that process."
"Our administration will continue to work with all the parties to reach a conclusion as soon as possible, which were hopeful thats coming quickly.
