Reports of police in riot gear began to emerge on Twitter about 10:30 p.m., and several witnesses have been posting photos and video from the incident.

Orange County Sheriff's Office confirmed there was a disturbance at the mall but no details were immediately available.

The shoe being unveiled is by Nike. The company's website says the shoes were part of the Nike All-Star Galaxy collection inspired by space exploration and were set for release Friday in a nod to both orlando and space."

Disturbance Breaks Out At Fla. Mall Foot Locker

"A disturbance broke out Thursday night when a large crowd turned out for a sneaker release at the Florida Mall Foot Locker.

The store's website advertises the release of 16 All-Star Weekend sneakers. The crowd had gathered for the midnight sale of the shoes, priced from $90 to $175.

Multiple police units, including mounted patrols, were called in to break up the crowd and ask the people to leave mall property.

Police scanner traffic said the people in the crowd were not complying, so additional units were called in."
