File this under "Somebody Up there Likes Me."Source: Sportsnaut, by Matt Johnson
As baseball fans stuff online ballots to see their favorite players in the 2018 MLB All-Star Game, fans are also showing their support for New York Mets minor league outfielder Tim Tebow.
The 30-year-old outfielder, who is playing for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies this season, was named to the Eastern League All-Star Game on Friday.
The 30-year-old outfielder, who is playing for the Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies this season, was named to the Eastern League All-Star Game on Friday.
Across 22 games, the former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner had an .812 OPS with a .318/.357/.455 slash line. While he only hit one home run in 70 plate appearances, Tebow drove in 11 RBI and scored 11 runs.
Given his performance this month and now an All-Star spot, it wouldnt be a surprise to see Tebow promoted to Triple-A Las Vegas by August. It could then open the door for him to be called up to the Mets active roster when rosters expand in September.

That said, I'm a Phillies fan so I don't really care what the Mets do.

(16,104 posts)2. Johnny Damon: Mets Should Call Up Tim Tebow, Says 'He Knows How to Win'
In an interview with TMZ Sports, Damon was asked if the Mets should summon Tebow from Double-A. He responded by saying: "If they wanna sell tickets and have someone who knows how to compete to win on any given basiswhether it's on TV, whether it's on the baseball field or the football field ... he knows how to win."
Tebow looks every bit like a pro baseball player currently, however, and there is a strong case to be made for him to make the big-league roster at some point this season.
The Mets are struggling mightily with a 32-46 record, which has them fourth in the National League East, and 12.5 games behind the division-leading Atlanta Braves.
The idea of calling Tebow up to the majors would have been considered a publicity stunt last season, but his play suggests he deserves consideration. The interest he would generate is something the moribund Mets desperately need.

to talk about an all-star. For shame!!!

(36,509 posts)6. No disrespecting at all.
If he can maintain his present hot streak through the second half of the season he just might have a lock on Triple-A ball next year, and might even be called up to the 'BIG GAME' to fill in for injured players. I wonder if he would commute by bus or limo.
40 Man roster, Baby!

.256. But to his credit, he's has only one error on the field this year.
