The trade cannot be officially processed until the new NFL league year begins March 13.
The teams are prohibited from commenting on the deal or the terms surrounding it. When the deal is completed, it likely will be for a mid-round pick, sources told ESPN.
The agreement means that Baltimore is officially committing to Lamar Jackson. When the deal is completed, the Ravens will save $10.5 million in cap space. However, they will carry $16 million in dead money on their 2019 cap.

(17,390 posts)Let's not forget about your backfield. Neither Fournette, nor Yeldon, nor Hyde could consistently get the job done last season. That represents some real talent but also a real lack of productivity. Something's gotta change there.

(23,193 posts)Yeldon is definitely gone, don't know about Hyde. Fournette is yet another draft blunder by Caldwell. He has talent, but he's always hurt and is a huge head case. Letting Robinson go to Bears, another major faux pas. Think he had more yardage than all the Jags WR;s combined.

(17,865 posts)Can you afford Foles with your other needs?
Since no team will sign him for over $6.5M what incentive does he have to sign anything but a league minimum contract with his next team? I was thinking the Redskins would be the perfect landing spot for him under those conditions.
Bortles contract has offset language for the $6.5M - that means whatever the next team pays him for 2019 comes off the Jaguars' books.

(23,193 posts)It would probably eliminate high price free agents, but if they hit good on OL (yeah, that's a HUGE IF) and WR in draft, we should be OK-good.

(29,150 posts)I'm a Broncos fan and I'm not over the moon on this, but I'm not upset either. They apparently gave up a fourth rounder to get him.

(183,019 posts)But I guess Baltimore was more concerned about getting cap space. He really did soak up a lot of their options but hey his window is only so big. He could hang around for years in a baseball cap too.

(17,390 posts)I mean, if he was still on the market. He'd be the next Tom Brady under Belichick, right???

(16,113 posts)He used to be an adequate QB, now hes below average but paid like hes a top one.

(17,090 posts)Flacco has been a below average QB since his SB run, and is coming back from injury at 34, with a bad contract. Elway should give up on drafting QBs, although I bet he does it again next year, if not this year. KC is going to own the AFC West division for the next few years.
