Johnny Manziel barred from the Canadian Football League

The Montreal Alouettes released quarterback Johnny Manziel on Wednesday, saying he "contravened the agreement which made him eligible to play" in the Canadian Football League.

The CFL said Manziel, 26, is not eligible to sign with another team in the league, which had his full rights for two seasons.

"We are disappointed by this turn of events. Johnny was provided a great deal of support by our organization, in collaboration with the CFL, but he has been unable to abide by the terms of his agreement," Alouettes general manager Kavis Reed said in a statement. "We worked with the league and presented alternatives to Johnny, who was unwilling to proceed."

It is unclear what Manziel did to violate the agreement with the Alouettes and the CFL, but the quarterback posted on social media that he looks forward "to exploring new options." According to a source, Manziel violated a set of conditions set forth by the CFL when he originally signed in May 2018. Although the league never specified the terms, it said in a statement that they were "extensive and exacting" and were generated after an assessment from an independent expert on domestic violence.

The source did not believe that the release was a result of Manziel attempting to break his contract to play in an American developmental league.

Among other things, it's supposed to be given for leadership and sportsmanship, neither of which he's ever exhibited. I think the committee needs to re-consider those qualifications for the trophy, and I think that freshman should be ineligible for it, because they need to learn those things. I think that early success harmed him, not to say that he would have improved, but he should never have been given that trophy.

In fact I think the Heisman should be limited to juniors and seniors, and maybe even seniors only.

Johnny, however, was damaged beyond repair long before he became a freshman in college. He was the indulged and pampered scion of a wealthy family, who was never disciplined for any transgression and never earned any of the benefits that were showered upon him. The poor kid never had a chance from the day he was born.

There are plenty of Herman winners who aren't good enough for the pros and even if he was barred from the Heisman (in fact there were many great freshmen that should of won one. Lamar Jackson won one as a sophomore how has it affected him? Even if you don't give someone the heisman they can still win the Maxwell Award which is pretty much the same thing.

I swear we come up with ridiculous solutions for problems it is just a trophy.

Ex-NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel is once again out of a job after he was released by the Montreal Alouettes and effectively banned from the CFL on Wednesday. Now, his wife is facing allegations of cheating at a half marathon.

Manziel’s wife, Bre Tiesi-Manziel, is a fitness and Instagram model. She recently participated in the Run Like A Diva half marathon in Temecula, Calif. And finished the race with a time of 1:58:22 with zero training, according to her. Via the Houston Chronicle, the average time for a woman running a half marathon is around 2:19 and a pace of just over 10 minutes per mile.

Tiesi-Manziel’s average of 9:09 per mile would be impressive but not unheard of — the problem for her came after a look at her mile-by-mile splits.
